Learning during the pandemic

Actualizado: 8 dic 2020

I found a newspaper article to which is attached a video of a visually impaired girl and some difficulties during the pandemic. In these times it’s more difficult to touch the materials because it can be infected.

I also found a lecture that collects different student experiences during confinement. It’s very interesting because you realize their difficulties but also the tools that they can use and how they use it.

Both videos talk about the difficulty of learning at a time when everything is virtual, visual. And it is that most of the material that was sent during the pandemic had to be adapted to the abilities of each child.

Some of the strategies that were discussed at the conference were:

-Create alliances and maintain a channel of communication with parents and teachers over time.

-Verbalize the images that have videos or on the board.

-Deliver the material in advance by the specialists to adapt it to the students

-Collect evidence through videos, photos, video calls of what the student is doing

-Create activities with learning experiences using specific and manipulative material.

-Make sure the documents are accessible (all I write, the screen reader should read it, with titles, use simple and short sentences).

Honestly, I hadn’t thought about how visually impaired people do it at this time that almost everything is visual. And those two videos have made me think a lot.

What do you think about it?
