Animals and autism

I would like to introduce you all the role of the animals towards autism.

I have recently seen a YouTube video in which has exposed this role. The professional Maggie E. O'Haire talks about how important is to connect with nature and how interacting with animals provides us social support, which we all know that is related to a number of health outcomes .

So the basis of this presentation is to expose one of the experiments carried out with children with autism and the benefits of interacting with animals.

It was seen that when the animals were there, the social interaction of those children increased, they were talking, looking and touching more than with the presence of toys instead.

I recommend a lot watching the video so you can understand better why this children feel better when they are with animals than when they have to play with toys.

This graph shows, as I said, how interaction with animals increases the social interaction of the child with autism. In contrast, this interaction is lower when the child is in the situation in which he has toys in front of him instead the animal.

Hope it has been of interest to you!
