PEANA PROJECT

PEANA (Proyecto de Estructuración Ambiental en el aula de Niños /as con Autismo), it is a method that was created in 1990 by Javier Tamarit, Joaquina De Dios, Santiago Domínguez and Laura Escribano, all of them was members of the CEPRI Special Education College (Madrid).

PEANA was created with the main objective of achieving the maximum personal and social independence possible in children and adolescents with ASD. But the possibility has been raised that it is a useful project / method for different types of SEN and can be used in special classrooms or SIEI.

Children and adolescents with ASD usually have difficulty understanding the environment both in the classroom and at home, normally these difficulties are in the abstraction and symbolization, in the creation of mental representations and the difficulties in the handling of the imagination. For this reason, this project was created, based on the use of visual keys (or sensory in some cases) directed at two fundamental dimensions: ordering of space and ordering of time. The keys of this method must be concrete, simple and permanent for a better understanding and adaptation of the child.

I created a short summary or guide created to explain the PEANA project in a visual and easy way, hope you read it and like it!!
